English: A characteristic mask of the Venetian carnival is the mattasin, the mattacino, which is a kind of clown with a white or multicolored dress, light and short, with a feathered hat on his head. The mattacini in Venice were famous for the launch of "ovi profumai" (scented eggs) that they threw with the frombole. The custom was so frequent that, around these characters, a real market was generated: there were hundreds of street vendors of these fragrant eggs that were thrown towards balconies occupied by friends, acquaintances and girls in love.
