Neubot (the network neutrality bot) e` un software open source [1]sviluppato e mantenuto da Nexa Center for Internet and Society, che raccoglie dati relativi alla performance network e alla network neutrality .[2] Una volta installato sul computer dell'utente il demone viene eseguito in background e periodicamente esegue vari test collegandosi ai server gestiti da Measurement Lab.[3] Questi test emulano differenti protocolli (al momento HTTP e Bittorrent) oltre a trasmettere e ricevere pacchetti TCP.[4] La performance è misurata sia dal bot che attraverso Web100 a livello del Transport Layer.[5]Le misurazioni vengono salvate sia sui server di Measurement Lab che localmente e visualizzate tramite un'interfaccia web. [6] Questi dati vengono raccolti per fini di ricerca.[7] ed automaticamente pubblicati online[8] [9] [10] con licenza Creative Commons Zero (pubblico dominio), permettendo a chiunque di riutilizzarli liberamente.
